There are as of now THREE caches in a VERY close proximity to this
event. Please make sure that if you are doing these, you attempt
them well before or AFTER the mob, so as not to "lose the effect"
of the flash mob.
When you get to the OBVIOUS park near GZ, yo will see a LARGE
sundial. THIS will be the true GZ, the co-ords for it are just too
close to an actual cache to be considered.
GROUND ZERO WILL BE AT THE SUNDIAL!
The all powerful and well known Gizfinder :) had a great idea.
For anyone who wants to meet AFTER the mob, I would suggest;
N 44° 01.096 W 088° 32.011
This is a nice little park with plenty of parking in the area
around it, and a nifty little geocache by JimandLinda to boot!
It is a short hop in the car, or about 5 minute walk to get
there from the event Ground Zero. On the walk, you will pass the
Public Library, the Northwestern Newspaper offices, and some other
historical buildings (some nice buildings here! No wonder they
filmed a movie here last winter!) There is also the YMCA and some
city owned building with plenty of free parking.
This Flash Mob Geocache event will last exactly 15 minutes – not
a second longer. You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING
this time to claim this event.
For those that don’t know - A Flash Mob is a large group of
people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something
unusual for a brief period of time, and then quickly disperse. Ours
is going to be a bit different than some! Each minute (on the exact
minute according the the GPS clock) a designated person (hopefully
a different person each time, but we are working out this detail
still) will shout out "DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS?" and
EVERYONE at the event will shout out the correct time! This should
make for an interesting 15 minutes downtown!
For the final time call, the answer will be "TIME TO GET OUT OF
HERE!"
ITINERARY: 11:45 PM - 11:59 PM - Participants wait patiently
and/or stroll around the area. STAY AWAY from ground zero until the
signal is given. Best as you can, act like a muggle, pretend not to
know each other or give any indication that something is about to
happen. At 11:59 PM slowly begin to move towards ground zero.
12:00 PM – A Designated person will shout "WHAT TIME IS IT?"
This is your cue! Everyone will converge right at ground zero. Log
slips will be handed out - Bring your own pen or pencil. Sign
individual log slip and drop it in the collection box. Next - turn
to someone close by and “swag swap” or trade “trackables” if you so
chose.
12:08 PM – Group picture takes place. Listen carefully and
follow all directions given by photographer quickly as to where to
line up.
12:12 PM - The event meal will be held, and mingling can take
place. The FTF name drawing will be held.
12:14 PM - We will seal up the log container for transport.
12:15 PM EXACTLY – The call will be "DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT TIME
IT IS?" Everyone shouts back "TIME TO GET OUT OF HERE!" and leaves
immediately! Meet elsewhere if desired.
This event will be held rain or shine – please come prepared for
the elements.
We would love to have a general idea of how many to expect – so
please write a note here and let us know if you and others will be
attending the event.
