Geocache Description:

My second cache hidden in Lowndes Park. It's a City Park on one of the highest points overlooking Clarksburg. The views are good and will be better after the leaves fall. I've seen deer every time I've been in there and a couple of times I saw turkey. The park is known for having Civil War era trenches and breastworks. It's not well kept and is now mainly known as the home of the YMCA.

The best way to get to the Park is to take the 2nd Street exit from Rt. 50 and stay on 2nd street all the way up Lowndes Hill.

Note: If the Y isn't open, the park isn't. I've found the gates closed on holidays and Sundays. The park closes at dark except on Saturdays when it closes at 5:00pm.

This cache is not too far from "In the trenches" though it takes a little bushwacking to get from one to the other. This one is easy to get to when the gates are closed. Park near the exit and follow the deer trail to the left of the gate. It's only about 400 feet from the road. There are some really large, old trees in there. This is an exercise in a different kind of cammo. The cache container isn't small but due to the design, this is a log only cache. Bring your own pen. If you don't like creepy-crawlies, you'll want to skip this one.
