You will need to collect six puzzle pieces (pieces U, V, W, X, Y, and Z), and then use them to solve a puzzle, to learn the coordinates of the cache. To obtain the puzzle pieces, you'll need to solve six puzzles and visit six caches. Here are the details:
- Solve Sheet Bend. When you visit its container, you will find a wooden puzzle. Solve this puzzle at the cache site; do not remove it from the vicinity of the cache.
- By solving the wooden puzzle in Sheet Bend, you will obtain the coordinates for Digital Design. When you visit Digital Design's container, you will find multiple copies of puzzle pieces U and V. Take one copy of U and one copy of V home with you.
- Solve Cube Root. When you visit its container, you will find a wooden puzzle. Solve this puzzle at the cache site; do not remove it from the vicinity of the cache.
- By solving the wooden puzzle in Cube Root, you will obtain the coordinates for Face Value. When you visit Face Value's container, you will find multiple copies of puzzle pieces W and X. Take one copy of W and one copy of X home with you.
- Solve Hex Wrench. When you visit its container, you will find a wooden puzzle. Solve this puzzle at the cache site; do not remove it from the vicinity of the cache.
- By solving the wooden puzzle in Hex Wrench, you will obtain the coordinates for Stick Figures. When you visit Stick Figures' container, you will find multiple copies of puzzle pieces Y and Z. Take one copy of Y and one copy of Z home with you.
Once you have collected the six puzzle pieces, here's how to solve the puzzle. Each piece is a square made of heavy card stock. Be sure that you have six different pieces, labeled U through Z. The labels are there purely to distinguish the pieces and have no bearing on the solution.
Cut along the line that outlines each piece. You should end up with six perfect squares.
You will see some regions that are printed in black and other regions that are printed in gray. Carefully cut out and discard the gray regions. (Since the labels are in the gray regions, you will be discarding them too.) Each of your puzzle pieces will now contain one or two holes.
Your job is to find a way to arrange the pieces into a single stack so that you see six black digits on a white background. Each of the pieces must have its printed side facing up. You will have to decide how to orient each piece (there are four possibilities) and in what order to stack the pieces.
In the solution, the digits will be arranged in two rows and three columns. The three digits in the first row are A, B, and C. The three digits in the second row are D, E, and F.
Here are two sample solutions, so you'll know what you're looking for:
In the first sample solution: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6. In the second sample solution: A=7, B=8, C=9, D=0, E=1, F=2.
In the solution, the digits will be shaped exactly as illustrated. Notice how the digit "1" is always positioned at the right side of its field.
Beginning at the posted coordinates, go 0.ABC minutes north and 0.DEF minutes west to locate the cache container. There's a trail to within 25 feet.
