Geocache Description:

Cache is placed by kind permission of farmer Melville Stirling of Bow Farm.
Park at roadside at 55 40.729 2 49.796 approx, road verge is hard, do not obstruct farm gate. Follow well defined farm track from Finger Post indicating Broch until you pass through Sixth gate (by large stone pile), turn left and follow along sheep trail to Cairn. Little is left of the Broch which dates back to the time of Roman occupation. The cairn has obviously been built with stones from the Broch which in my view is vandalism as well as being illegal. The cache is sited on a fairly steep slope so take care with the little ones.
There are many Brochs in the Highlands and Islands but very few in southern Scotland. Bow Castle and Torwoodlee are not far apart in the Borders but are both in poor condition. The only other one I know in this area is Edins Hall, near Abbey St Bathans, which is very well maintained by Historic Scotland and well worth a visit.
The container is a tupperware type about 5 inches square and contained at placing:
Logbook and Pen
Cigarette Lighter, Party Popper, Post-it Notes, Nail Clippers, Coil of Handy Wire, Water Pistol, RSPB Badge, Swimmer Doll, Dolls Teacup and Leading Light Travel Bug.
