Prior to the massive development of central Nassau County the area encompassed over 40,000 acres of prairies known as the Hempstead Plains. Today only a tiny portion of this land remains.
This CITO will help clean up the Francis T Purcell Preserve. One of the last true native plains areas in Long Isand.
When: August 8th, 8am to Noon or so
Where: Francis T Purcell Preserve
We will meet in the southermost parking lot of the Long Island Marriott
101 James Doolittle Blvd, Uniondale, NY
