Two stage multi-cache located in Algonquin Woods forest preserve
with an ammo box final.
No matter what you believe, Easter is a popular holdiay; with
hidden eggs, baskets, chocolate and the Easter Bunny. Our family
has a tradition a bit odder than most for Easter: the Egg Derby.
The rules are simple. Players roll hard-boiled eggs at their
opponents and smash them together. Once your egg's yolk shows,
you're out. Last player with an egg wins. For those of you who
don't celebrate Easter with an Egg Derby, here's something you
might like better: an Easter-themed multi-cache.
At the recommended parking there are many grilles and hatches in
the ground, with signs warning "DANGER: Constricted area. Bring
sufficient oxygen. Beware harmful gases. Hatches alarmed," to
prevent anyone from descending into whatever is beneath the
surface. I have no idea why you would want to; maybe it's a sewer
main? Continuing on, the path will lead you under I-294. As cars
rumble overhead, you walk along a dark creek to the other side.
From there, a series of trails will lead to the first stage. It is
about the size of, well, an Easter egg; in it are the coordinates
to the next stage. This first stage is rather difficult and may
take some intensive searching. Depending on your approach, the
second stage may require some bushwhacking. The final is an ammo
box that is *ahem* appropriately painted.
These are the original contents:
Bendable "Backpacking Bunny" TB (brand new!)
assorted mini easter magnets
camo easter egg
Small water pistol Mini football
Basketball magnet
Dixie Chicks CD
Pair of new black gloves
and.... A shiny trophy for the first finder!
Please leave both stages EXACTLY as found for the next finders, and
trade up or even. Feel free to be wordy in your log; there are
plently of pages. This cache was placed in the easter season, on
CITO day. Appropriately enough, we put a Cache In and took several
bags of Trash Out.
Happy hunting!
