Argyll Winter Cache Bash and Social. 2008 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

dmnak: Archived... good to see other cachers sticking their noses in. Shame they couldn't actually make it to the cache bash. Must be looking to become a reviewers, but until then better keeping their thoughts to themselves. Comments like those are better left to the employees of Groundspeak, not wannabe's.

Geocache Description:

The Argyll Winter Cache Bash and Social 2008.
After the great success of the cache bash and social in 2007, it has been suggested another event is held at the Lunga Estate again. Thus we have this posting.

The Bash is going to be held in Mid-Argyll, principally based at the Lunga Estate, on the Craignish Penisula. The nearest villages are Ardfern & Craobh.

Lunga Estate is a 20min drive from Lochgilphead or 1/2 hr from Oban, just to give you an idea. Lunga, provides a truly stunning location with the most amazing views and countryside, overlooking the Gulf of Coryvrechan and isles of Lunga, Scarba, Jura, Luing And Seil.

I suspect most people would want to stay for at least one night, and thus I would also propose an evening meal @ Lunga. You really can't beat Sarah's traditional Scottish Food... along with the company of the Laird, and a big log fire to keep you warm. Not to mention a few light refreshments. If the weather is poor there are two great pubs within walking distance..

There are a heap of Caches already placed around the Estate and plenty more will follow in the forthcoming months prior to the event. If you love caches with amazing views, history, standing stones and exciting tales then this is the cache bash for you. There is also the social side of the bash involving a pub quiz and dinner on the Saturday night.

Rough Guide to be up-dated as planning progresses.

Friday night:
BYOB gathering in the morning room.

Saturday:

Boat Trip to Isle of Lunga. Firth of Forth organizing.

Caching during the day, followed by the pub quiz.

Evening: Dinner at Lunga house.

Sunday:
More caching and pub meet.

'CLACH NA COINNEACH' DAY. Challenge day to find the 5* 5* cache. I'll be available to give clues and help... an extra 'sub-cache' will be placed with a FTF prize. It won't be easy though. Definitely not for the faint hearted, this will be hardcore caching. Prize will well and truly make it worth it though.

Accommodation can be found at Lunga House ( www.lunga.com ) at very good rates, although other accommodation can be found locally. Pre-booking for accommodation is recommended, as is dinner.

Aye, Ken.
