Geocache Description:

Welcome to Hillcrest Cemetery!

NO NIGHT CACHING!

Hillcrest Cemetery is located in the eastern portion of Fulton, across the street from Veteran's Park. It is one of three cemeteries maintained by the City of Fulton, the other two being Pioneer and Southside Cemeteries. This cache is designed to give you a brief glimpse into the history of this cemetery and some individuals who reside permanently here.

While this cache should take less than 30 minutes to complete, it is our hope that you spend a little extra time exploring the area. There are a lot of interesting monuments and burials of many of Fulton's most prominent families. The general terrain is very easy to negotiate, so getting around should not be a problem.

You will be gathering information from four gravesites. There is some simple math involved, so a calculator might be beneficial to have with you if so desired.

STAGE ONE: : The posted cache coordinates will bring you to the grave stone pictured above. On this stone, you'll notice an ornate symbol. For this stage, you need to add the two-digit number on the chest to the number of letters in the motto below it. This number will be A. Proceed to Stage Two.

STAGE TWO: : At this stage, you will find the tall marker of a local doctor with a rather appropriate first name. Count the number of letters in this name. This single-digit number will be B. Proceed to Stage Three.

STAGE THREE: : At this next stop, you will find the scroll motif grave marker seen above. At this location, you must take note of the years of both his birth and death. Subtract the year of his birth from the year of his death to obtain a two-digit number. This number will be C. Proceed to Stage Four.

STAGE FOUR: : This final stop along the way is a very special one. This is the grave of a Revolutionary War veteran. As with the previous stage, please take note the years of birth and death. Subtract the year of his birth from the year of his death to obtain a two-digit number. This number will be D.

FINAL STAGE: To obtain the final cache coordinates, you must complete these equations: For the North coordinates, add A and B together. Take that number and add 911. The final number will have a checksum of 21. For the West coordinates, add C and D together, and to that sum add 101. The final number will have a checksum of 7.

The final cache is located at
N 38 50.(A+B)+911
W 091 56.(C+D)+101

The cache is not located in the cemetery, but rather outside of it. The final location is easy to get to, but when retrieving the cache, there is a little bit of thorn activity with which to contend. You are looking for a small, black container that can hold only very small items. Please bring your own writing utensil.
