Here's
a cache to get you started exploring the amenities of St. Louis
County's Queeny Park.
Queeny
Park was once part of the estate of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar M.
Queeny. Mr. Queeny was the former president and chairman of the
board of Monsanto Chemical Company, which was founded by his
father. At 569-acres, Queeny Park has two lakes, 6.5 miles of
walking trails, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, and biking.
West County residents love the tranquility of the park's wooded
hills, scattered meadows, and small prairies. The south trails are
made of asphalt, the north trails are a white chat surface. Besides
the trails, there are a number of equestrian courses that include
jumps, fences, water areas, etc. The beautiful rolling terrain is
unique in the Midwest and reminiscent of the Eastern woodlands.
Queeny Park is also the home of the American Kennel Club's Museum
of the Dog.
