Geocache Description:

This Cache is situated on the side of a very quiet country road and is suitable for young and old alike. I feel that this is as much a virtual cache as a traditional one, due to its location.

The cache furthest from the sea.

Just outside the quaint village of Coton in the Elms is a very special place.
The Ordnance Survey has calculated it is the furthest point from the sea in all the UK. Their website says, in the Geofacts section, that "The point furthest from the sea in the British Isles is at Grid Reference SK 257144".
This lies just east of Church Flatts Farm, approximately 1 mile south-east of Coton in the Elms, Derbyshire.
(SK 257144 is on private land so please do not enter this land without permission from the owner)

For the record, the nearest section of coast is the mean low water line at Fosdyke Wash, on the edge of The Wash, south of Boston, in Lincolnshire.
This is some 70 miles (113 kilometres) away.
However, to be technical, the nearest high tide point is on the River Trent, which is a tidal river.
This cache is within a few hundred feet of this central location and is the cache furthest from the sea in the UK. A BIG claim for such a little box....hence the reason I feel that this is as much a virtual cache as a traditional one.

The cache is a small (1 litre) box and contains a cache cam so please take a photo to record your visit.

********** NOTE CAMERA NOW REMOVED DUE TO MISUSE**********

After the cache I can recommend the 'Green Man' in the village of Clifton Campville 2 miles away for lunch.

This is the first cache we have hidden, hope you enjoy it.
