Geocache Description:

Trailside cache offers gorgeous view of a less-crowded part of Catalina Island.

You can ride your rented golf-cart, or hike of course, past Pebbly Beach to within 1/4 mile of this little cache; free parking. The Renton Mine Road is closed to vehicles but is a lovely, gradual walk.

Moderate eucalyptus-tree cover should present no problem to the GPS. You can see the ocean from here, and when you are standing by the cache you'll know why it got this name. No off-trail bushwhacking or climbing is needed. This is a good, wide dirt road. However, there are no guardrails. Keep a hand or eye upon small children.

(For all hiking outside the city limits of Avalon, please go by the Nature Conservancy office .. open 8:30 - 3:30 daily .. to register and pick up a free hiking permit. You must hike by daylight only.)

The cache is a small, clear plastic container. Original contents include: log sheet, state quarters, purple eyeglass cleaning cloth. Bring your own pen. Enjoy!
