Because of its easy access to local waterways, the City of Mary Esther is noted as one of the first areas settled in this part of Northwest Florida. The first settler of Mary Esther came in 1842 when Jesse Rogers and his family drove a large cattle herd from Louisiana to the shores of Santa Rosa Sound and settled here.

Not too much problem with finding the cache, great cemetery. I was also measuring tombstones for EarthTrek's Gravestone Project and I must have overstayed my welcom as the friendly neighborhood cop (was friendly) pulled in and inquired of my wonderings. He knew of geocaching and then asked a number of questions about EarthTrek. He told me a story of a "couple" late at night at "Hello, Kitty" - I wonder who that could have been? TFTC
