Nikolai Cathedral (Tokyo revival cathedral)
Cathedral of orthodox Church. It is cathedral where the revival of the [iisusu] Harris toss is memorized, and the standard nomenclature is "Tokyo revival cathedral. ""Nikolai Cathedral" is an alias, and it exists commemorating Russian [osamumichi] priest (primate) sage Nikolai who brings Japan teaching the orthodox Church.
The building area makes the dome roof of 35 meters in height that wears about 800 square meters and green rust the first time by the feature in Japan and is called the church construction of a real maximum level [bizantei;n] style.
It seemed to have occupied an important position to the spectacle in the vicinity of Ochanomizu because it completed in 1891, and it was located in the height of the Suruga stand.
It has been arriving through the change and the restoration of a part of composition now after big damage is received in Great Kanto Earthquake.
It was specified for national important cultural properties in June, 1962.

ニコライ堂（東京復活大聖堂）
東京近代建築シリーズ #01
正教会の大聖堂。イイスス・ハリストスの復活を記憶する大聖堂であり、正式名称は「東京復活大聖堂」。「ニコライ堂」は別名であり、日本に正教会の教えをもたらしたロシア人修道司祭（のち大主教）聖ニコライにちなんでいます。
建築面積は約800平方メートル、緑青を纏った高さ35メートルのドーム屋根が特徴で 、日本で初めてにして最大級の本格的なビザンティン様式の教会建築といわれています 。
1891年に竣工し、駿河台の高台に位置したため御茶ノ水界隈の景観に重要な位置を占めたそうです。
関東大震災で大きな被害を受けた後、一部構成の変更と修復を経て現在に至っています。
1962年6月、国の重要文化財に指定されました。
