This cache is part of the SC State Park Geocache Challenge. You are looking for a 50-cal ammo box, 100 feet off the road.
Just off of I-85, at the South Carolina-Georgia border, you’ll find Lake Hartwell State Park. Covering 56,000 acres, Lake Hartwell is made for fishing, and maintains a reputation for top-flight angling. The lake is inhabited by striped and hybrid bass, largemouth, crappie, bream and catfish.
Besides fishing, the park offers a basketball court, publicly accessible boat ramp and hiking. Every type of camping enthusiast will find a site that suits their needs for camping on Lake Hartwell. The park is the only in the state to offer the unique, single room camper cabins, which offer guests without camping gear an opportunity to experience the feel of camping outdoors.
This cache is part of the South Carolina State Park Service Geocache Challenge. There are 4 regions within the challenge, with different numbers of geocache locations in each region. In each posted cache, there is a hint, a number that will be used in the formula given in the description for the regional mystery cache, leading you to the final cache in each region, 4 in total. And in that final mystery cache in each region is also a hint, a number that will be used in the formula given in the description for the “Finale cache”, providing the coordinates to reach the final cache, located at Sesquicentennial State Park which entitles the first 5 finders to a special reward. But to do this, you will have to have traveled to all 47 parks, and have found all of the caches! Good luck and most of all, have fun!
