Along the Wasatch Front 100 Mile Endurance Run Swallow
Rocks
This is the first of what I hope to be several caches along the
route of the WF100 Endurance Run. The mileage along the course is
approximate and may appear in reverse of the direction of the race.
The race starts at the East Mountain Wilderness Park north of SLC
and ends in Midway. The cache area is called Swallow Rocks. I ran
to the cache site from Big Mountain Pass along the route of the
Great Western Trail. From the parking area at the top of the pass
on highway from Parleys Canyon to East Canyon. Take the trail
uphill to the West. Stay on the main trail until it merges with a
ridge road. Continue West until you are close to the cache site.
You will see the Great Western Trail sign pointing to a trail still
heading West. From the parking lot to the cache is approximately
5.5 trail miles. Be forewarned, this is not a walk in the park. The
trail goes up some steep climbs and follows the south side ,north
side, and the tops of the ridges. Instead of placing caches along
the trail close to others who have gone to so much trouble to do
so, I will mention the cache names and mileage along the course.
MoDaSa cache is close to the trail at mile 31.5. From there you are
about a GPS mile from the Grandview 2002 cache (GC9B6F) as well.
Feel free to email me if you have trouble following the
trail.
7/7/09: My friend, pokernut, will be adopting this cache. If he has
not already found it, I want him to log it as a find whenever he
has a chance to find it. I know it's bad form to log your own
caches but in this case he is adopting it. Thanks. Scubadog
