How Geocaching Works
This appears to be an ordinary though awkward restaurant buildiing - slab sides, faux Chinese roof, oddly placed so that traffic from Avenue Granada must swerve around it to reach Highway 1.
It's placed this way because it was once a hub of transportation. The remodels and glazed tiles cover what was once a railroad station. From 1907 to 1920 the Ocean Shore Railroad ran here, pushing south from San Francisco down the San Mateo coast. This was the northern and largest of three stations within the El Granada development, a real estate project by the owners of the railroad.
At 100+ years old, the old station is still going strong. Ask within for the cache, from 11am - 10pm, Wednesday through Monday.
