January 22 by paulherman (216 found) Finally finished the last cache and got to the end. A time consuming, but not too strenuous exercise in hiking through a large field. Took about 8 hours altogether. Took Certified Addict Geocoin and left a new golf ball.

January 7 by paulherman (216 found) Found another 4 caches in this series this afternoon. Had problems finding the cache at marker BV, and had to retrace a step to check the instructions. This one was a little tricky! Hope to finish Excalibur next time out.

December 29, 2009 by Eagle and the nuts (286 found) We came to the park to camp and attend the geo picnic. We heard about this cache and Momma Nut wanted to attempt it. Our 8 year old had brought his prized Cub Scout pocket knife to camp and happened to attach his little compass as well, so yesterday morning we were off on our big adventure. We started off with the kids manning the compass and mom and dad keeping track of the distance. Found out real quick that dad (Eagle) needed to take over the compass and send the kids out ahead as sighting posts along the proper heading. We had heard to keep track of everything, so mama nut wrote a book at each marker and can. She recorded all code #s, marker #, headings, number of words on the card in each can, time of day at each one, number and species of each tree in the immediate area, marker #s where the kids stopped to pee, everything that could possibly be used in the final calculations. Found the first few cans with no problems, then got stopped by # 6. We searched for that can and got very frustrated. Since we were right on the bird trail and close to the cabins, muggle activity was suspected in the disappearance of the can. We were close to camp, so we went back for lunch. After a couple hours of recovery, we went back to #6 and found the can in about a minute. Looks like the muggles had put it back while we were eating. (LOL) We quickly made our way to #9 and got stopped again. There was no can to be found. We knew this time there could not be muggle involvement, we just plain screwed up on our heading or our search. After an hour of searching, the approaching darkness and cold weather promised for the night forced us back to our campsite. This morning we started off again. We got to the marker, double checked our heading, and ended up in the same spot we searched yesterday. This time we were able to find the elusive bugger and got the info for the next leg. We quickly got to # 13 and then Mama Nut pulled out her pile of books and we started extracting the the info needed for the calculations required to get the final coords. We used the handy dandy calculator built into her Garmin Colorado to get the figures needed. We keyed in our results and excitedly took off on our search for the last can. We got to the coords and WOW, WE FOUND IT! Right on the money. We got it right the first time. The kids sorted out all the cool swag. We took a coin and dropped a different one. We have joined the ranks of the elite. The Few, the Proud, The Excalibur! Our thanks to Montu Rider and others involved in this. You worked so hard to bring so much misery to so few people.
