Geocache Description:

**This cache is located within an area frequently patrolled by Police. Please avoid acting suspiciously whilst searching for it, and if challenged, explain about geocaching**

This cache is only available Mon - Fri 07.00 - 17.00hrs.
It is a magnetised keysafe container located at the front of the newsagent (who keeps an eye on the cache), coords are within 40 feet due to the buildings.

This is one in a short series of caches that are to be found at or near entrances to dissused London transportation sites.

This cache is at Down Street station which was opened on 15th March 1907, it was never very busy due to the proximity of the larger Hyde Park Corner and Dover Street stations.

After Dover Street was refurbished and renamed as Green Park Station, Down street was duly closed on May 21st 1932.

Intrestingly Winston Churchill and his wartime cabinet used this station as a shelter during the early part of the war when the Cabinet War Rooms weren't available.
