Geocache Description:


The Park and Recreation board approved the design of Brian Melton Field on May 25,1999. This park is unique in the fact that two professional sports teams (Iowa Barnstormers and Iowa Cubs) came together with multiple agencies to develop a sports park at a single location for the betterment of the community.

The park is named after Brian Charles Melton a Des Moines police officer that was shot and killed in 1977. Here is his memorial page: (visit link)
