Olsen Special Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Cervis Venator

Geocache Description:

A different cache hidden in an urban enviroment, a former industry complex. Please seek only after working hours and weekends as the place now is a busy workingplace. The difficulty level is set high as a start. I might set it down after feedback from the forst finders (if any).

This cache is a bit special. It is a log only cache. No trades possible. Please dont leave items as this will give the hiding place away. There is no pencil in the cache, please bring your own.It is hidden in a place of former industrial greatness. In a time when the river was the heart of the city. The hide is just downstream of Bentsebrua, an iron bridge completed in 1901. The bridge is named after Ole Bentsen, the owner of Bentse Brug situated on both sides of the river upstreams. The area north of the bridge have housed production of clothes, paper, bone meal, wallpapers, cotton, canvas and even a pond for breeding leech for medicinal use. And not to forget the soap prodicers, Lilleborg, that have given the area its new name. The area south of the bridge have housed clay brick works (the amphi is the old clay quarry), mils and saws besides the wellknown mechanik shopMyrens Verksted. Myrens is today transformed to housing, studios, offices and more. The area could be described as the cradele of the Industrial Revolution in Norway. No less! Close to the hide there is a lookout. The view is fine in the dark when buildings across the river isiluminated. No problems or risks taking this cache in the dark. You might get a small surprise...Be prepared to watch out as the area is visited by security personell ontheir rounds. Police also patrols the pathway along the river. There is no security risk here, but you might have to explain what you are doing. The watchplace and a camera is a good camouflage.
