Farewell Tour Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cache-tech: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have had no contact with the cache owner since my last note and there has been no notes posted to the cache page in that time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache.
When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link (Mine) across the top and then click on this cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
Cache-tech

Geocache Description:

This is a surprise cache. Like Tn'N's gage 2 cache, Gnome's Outhouse, the co-ordinates of the cache are spread out through several caches. Old timers will know many of these and those new to geocaching can make a number of finds in short order. Clues have been placed in the caches listed below. Each cache must be visited (or revisited, as the case may be). I hope that those who cache in pairs or teams will not divide up the clue search.

This cache was to be activated on my last day of work and bicycle commuting before taking a leave to be a stay at home dad. It is appearing a couple of weeks late because I had a lot more work to finish than I thought. There are a number of caches on or near my commute. I won't be passing them on a regular basis for a while. Some of my favourites are on this route. This is a bicycle friendly cache. All of the caches are easily accessed by bike (the last few meters may require a bit of walking or extra nerve) but a lock would guarantee security when you need to leave your ride unattended. If you are driving, you're on your own for parking. The cache order generally runs from east to west.To complete the cache, each of the following cache locations must be visited. Take a printout of this page or a list of the caches. In most of the caches you will have to record a symbol and, later, match the symbols to their caches.1. Start at the posted co-ordinates. Call this one LCI. From this location, between two buildings, you can see a brass plaque on the older building (to the north). Record the digital root (nod to Tripper) of the date on the plaque. VERY IMPORTANT!!! SUBTRACT 5 FROM THE DIGITAL ROOT (Thanks Binthair!) Add up each individual number in the date. This will yield a two digit number. Add these two digits to get the final number. For example 2345 becomes 2+3+4+5=14, 14 becomes 1+4=5 the digital root.REMEMBER TO SUBTRACT 5!.2. Hill Mill Ruin - Here you will find a symbolic clue. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (visit link) 3. O Canada - A nemesis cache for me. This puzzle cache is fun and educational. The clue lies in the final cache location so unless you've already found the cache, you'll have to do the whole thing. (visit link) 4. Victoria Island Carbide Mill - Here you will find a symbolic clue. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (visit link) 5. Urban Microcache #2 - Here you will find a symbolic clue. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (visit link) 6. Kevin Was Here (Ince of Walcs) - Here you will find a symbolic clue. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (note that this cache rating is the highest and so this is the one I used for the whole of "Farewell Tour") (visit link) 7. Walk Around the Pasture - This is a multi. The clue is with the cache container, so unless you've done this one before, you'll have to do the whole thing. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (visit link) NOTE - THE CLUE HAS BEEN REMOVED. YOU CAN REUSE THE CLUE FROM "Kevin Was Here..."8. Skipping Stones - Here you will find a symbolic clue. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (visit link) 9. Where's Frank? - Here you will find a symbolic clue. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (visit link) 10. Stinky Monkey's Big Hug - Here you will find a clue. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (visit link) 11. Billy Goat's Gruff - Here you will find a symbolic clue. Record the symbol from the clue but please leave the clue in the cache. (visit link) Once you have visited all these caches, you will have the necessary information to figure out the final location. One of the caches contains the order of the symbols and a story clue to help decipher the symbols (if you have not done so before). The cache is a camouflage painted PVC poop toob container. Please be sure to rehide it carefully. Take the opportunity to enjoy the vistas as well as enjoying the nearby forest. The cache contains a description of the area. For the first finder there is a special hand crafted award (don't get excited! It takes the same form as the clues). While on the tour there are a few other caches you can work on. Some were in the running for inclusion but I cold not put all of them in.They Once Were Giants - you'll need a compassThe Great OutdoorsLest We ..... - a virtualMcKellar MicroUrban Microcache 1Ribbit - a multiIndiana Lost His Watch - a big multi that might not be so bike friendlyBenches and Bearings - This one requires a car, unless you're a really dedicated bike-cacherPast Your (Pasture) Prime - last time I was there, a barrier had been erected blocking the site (nominally). It was still accessible but I feared it might be discovered and so I decided against placing a clue in this location.
