Martinsicuro è un comune di 16.000 abitanti della provincia di Teramo, situato sulla destra della foce del fiume Tronto.
Deve il suo attuale nome al costruttore della "Torre di Carlo V", edificata nel 1547 dal nobiluomo spagnolo Martin de Segura a difesa delle incursioni saracene e in seguito dogana, intorno alla quale si è costituito l'attuale abitato.
Dopo la conquista romana nel III secolo a.C. fu municipio con il nome di Castrum Truentinum. Gli scavi condotti nella località "Case Feriozzi" tra il 1991 e il 1995 hanno riportato alla luce i resti della città, con un quartiere commerciale, già esistente nel II secolo a.C
Fu sede vescovile nel V secolo. La città venne probabilmente conquistata dai Longobardi dopo la conquista di Fermo nel 580.
Precedentemente appartenente al comune di Colonnella, divenne comune autonomo nel 1963. Negli anni '60 e '70 ha conosciuto un forte sviluppo turistico, che lo ha reso oggi una amena località balneare.
l litorale adriatico di Martinsicuro e della sua frazione di Villarosa, tra le foci dei fiumi Tronto e Vibrata, è un tratto di costa sabbioso che comprende un biotopo con dune e vegetazione psammofila. Nei canneti presso i fossi naturali sono ospitate specie di uccelli.

Martinsicuro is a town of 16,000 inhabitants in the province of Teramo, located on the right side of the river Tronto.
It owes its name to the maker of "Tower of Charles V, built in 1547 by Spanish nobleman Martin de Segura in defence of raids Saracen , around which it is the present-day town.
After the Roman conquest in the third century BC, the town name was Castrum Truentinum. The excavations conducted in the area "Case Feriozzi" between 1991 and 1995 have unearthed the ruins of the city, with a shopping district, which already exists in the second century a.C
