This cache is located at the summit of Crane Mt. elevation
3254', Town of Johnsburg, Warren County
From Wevertown, on Rt.28, drive southeast on Rt.8 to Johnsburg. At Johnsburg turn south onto S. Johnsburg Rd.
Proceed 6 miles then turn right onto Garnet Lake Rd. There is a Crane Mt sign at the intersection. Follow this road for 1.5 miles then turn right onto Sky High Rd. (another Crane sign here) Follow for approx 2 miles to the end and the parking lot. Trailhead coordinates are N43 32.263'
W73 58.068'.
Crane has two trails, which can be done as a loop. Both routes are rocky and steep in places. The eastern route is the quickest way to the summit, but it also has two ladders to climb!
The western trail takes you past scenic Crane Mt. Pond on the way to the top. Either route will give you a good workout!
The well stocked ammo can is hidden northeast of the NGS summit benchmarks. Pick a clear day and enjoy the outstanding view! Be sure to walk west along the ridge for a great view of Crane Mt. Pond.
