Geocache Description:

Sometimes it's about the cache, sometimes it's about the place.  Find the geocache, get a smiley, add to your numbers.  Then take a short walk across the street to: N 37 30.321 W 122 29.312 and see what the cache is really all about.

Coming around the bend to Pillar Point marsh is reminiscent of coming around the cove in Bodega Bay where Alfred Hichcock filmed his totally scary psychological thriller  'The Birds.'   Where seagulls, blackbirds, crows, and ravens overtake the citizens of a small northern California coastal town.

Movie Trivia:

  1.        500 crows, ravens, and seagulls were captured and trained by bird handler Ray Berwick.
  2.        Some scenes of flying gulls were filmed at San Francisco Dump
  3.        $200,000.00 was spent developing mechanical birds and only a few were used in the movie.
  4.        Actors had meat smeared on their hands and arms to prompt the birds to bite and peck.
  5.        In one day 13 crew members were hopitalized due to bird bites and scratches.
  6.        Star Tippi Hedren, when attacked near the end of the movie had birds attached to her clothes with nylon  thread so they                couldn't fly away.

Released in1963.  After 52 years this chilling, hair raising movie is still a nail-biter!

So, go ahead, stand next to this more than life sized fine feathered friend and take a picture.  He won't peck your eyes out,or, will he?
