Geocache Description:

This is a replacement for the old Cold Mtn. Geocache that was destroyed and is located very near the Appalachian Trail.

Drive to parking area at N 37 45.580, W 079 11.710. To get there take Route 60 to Rte. 634 on east side of highway. Take Rte. 634 to Rte. 755. There are signs saying Mt. Pleasant Senic Area Hiking Trails.
The USGS call it "Cole Mountain." The latest National Forest and AT maps call it "Cold Mountain." I prefer USGS names since I find more errors on National Forest maps.
Take a vehicle with good ground clearance. 4WD not needed, but wouldn’t hurt. Passenger cars can make it but there are some bad areas that require easing over.
Hike the Appalachian Trail to top of mountain. This geocache is replacing the old Cold Mtn. Geocache which was destroyed and the owners moved away. This spot is too good not to have a geocache associated with it. This hide is more secure from non-geocachers than the old hide.
Please watch for timber rattlers during hot weather. Carefully examine any dark looking "stick" on the trail as the rattlers in this area are almost black. No real danger but one should be observant.
The cache is a .30 caliber ammo can with the usual stuff in it.
