Geocache Description:

This cache was originally created by Waysters, now adopted by Orlando's Rat. Thank you, I hope I live up to your trust.

Kithurst Hill near Amberley is an area of outstanding natural beauty which lies on the South Downs Way. There are many walks to be enjoyed around this area with views to the coast, Butlins at Bognor Regis, the Trundle at Goodwood and beyond.

Towards the end of 1940, a regiment of the Canadian Army used a redundant tank for firing practice on the South Downs. Following the end of the war, this tank was abandoned in a bomb crater, covered with earth and left to rust. Eventually the tank was uncovered and now sits, an unusual sight, near the top of Kithurst Hill. It is just a few feet off a blue signed public bridleway.

The cache is a small magnetic box very suited to it's location attached to the tank. Care should be taken clambering over the rusty tank but is not required to retrieve the cache.

Note change of hint from 19/06/10.
