The original cache in this area, "Double Trouble", has been archived due to vandalism. It was located in the ruins of a house belonging to the Russell family. In keeping with this theme we have also tied our new cache to this family's history, hopefully in an interesting way.
Trails in these conservation areas are well defined and rocky with some hills. The hike to the cache is fairly easy, but there is no direct route so a trail map would be helpful. You may encounter some water on the trail from the Boxford State Forest parking due to activities of the local beaver population. You can walk along the side of the trail at that point across the top of the beaver dam. No bushwacking is necessary. The original plastic container was replaced with an ammo box on 6/18/11 and the cache was moved slightly to protect the historical stone wall. On 3/9/20 the metal ammo box was replaced with a plastic one. PLEASE be sure to rehide the cache exactly as you found it, this area is well-traveled by non-cachers. Thanks.
