Violent Acts of Clean Up: Loon Lake Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

Scoobert: Thanks to everyone for the help making this place look nicer. Not that I thought that was possible, at least once you get

away from the road and campsites.
See you next year, and until then we have something else in the works.

Geocache Description:

Earlier last spring I camped along the lake and spent the first hour or two cleaning up the area. Sadly when I returned a couple months later it looked as though none of that clean up was ever done. I hope to put a bigger dent in that project this time.

The name was stolen (with permission of course) from SillyScout's log for the Baltic Lookout CITO (Thanks, SillyScout ). Although this endeavor will surely be much less "violent" (referring to the demolition of some old buildings), we will surely make use of however many energetic geocachers decide to show up. We will concentrate on the western shore of the lake and then strategically deploy people to other spots around the lake depending on how many show. Heck, if we get enough people we could probably clean up all the way down to Wentworth Springs Road. We will make use of everyone, going all the way down to Georgetown if we have to.

There will be a sister event Saturday night/Sunday (What Happens at Loon Stays at Loon) so people can camp if they wish. There is usually plenty of availability at the campground this time of the year. You can also camp outside of the campground (at some of the areas we will be cleaning up), but keep in mind that there might be fire restrictions in place (i.e. no campfires outside the campground if that's the case).

This will become an annual event so be sure to join us for the first! We will concentrate on the western shores of the lake first, although the starting (meeting) coordinates are in the parking lot on the eastern shore just past the main campground. There will be someone here to strategically deploy people as they show up. More details and logistics will be posted as the event gets closer. The actual clean up will be held from 10am - 1:30pm.
