Perched 325’ above the ocean, this cache enjoys a dramatic vista
encompassing the waters, islands and mountains of Upper Cook Inlet.
From the Kincaid chalet, travel SSW about .1 mile to the Biathalon
Shooting Range at N61 09.150 W150 03.371. Following established
meandering trails, climb 110’ to the high point directly south of
the Range, at N61 09.052 W150 03.368. Here a bench provides a
resting place. To the north you’ll see the former antiaircraft
missile bunkers, now recycled into park facilities.
Travel eastwards along the developed trail to N61 09.014 W150
03.248, where rough planking forms a boardwalk leading through a
tunnel of vegetation. Follow this path off the main trail until it
opens onto a small grassy area with a bench at the top of the
bluff. Access the rough trail along the bluff and move east 75
yards along the path. A faint game trail will be visible at this
location, heading northwest towards the top of the knoll, above and
behind the bench. Use this trail to move towards your goal. DON’T
create a new path directly from the bench to the cache!
Please use care when accessing the container, moving only one piece
of camouflage to get to the ammo can to help preserve its hiding
place. Only .2 miles from pavement as the crow flies, it seems as
wild as when Europeans first came to Upper Cook Inlet. Enjoy the
view from Serenity Bench!
