Der Name des Zweikofels kommt davon, dass im nördlich gelegenen Talort Rattendorf im Winter die Sonne bereits zu Mittag hinter dem Berg verschwindet, jedoch um zwei Uhr wieder hervorkommt.
Der höchste Punkt am Zweikofel ist nicht so einfach zu erreichen. Man muss eine Blocksturzhalde queren und durch eine brüchige Rinne auf den ebenfalls sehr brüchigen Grat klettern, um zum Gipfelhang zu kommen.
Sichern ist eingeschränkt möglich, alpine Erfahrung ist nötig. Zum Abseilen empfiehlt es sich, eine Reepschnur mitzunehmen.
Die Dose liegt am höchsten Punkt.
Zweikofel is 2059 m high and is situated in the north of Trogkofel.
The name Zweikofel has its origin in Rattendorf. In winter the sun sets there at noon but there is another sunrise at two o’clock.
The highest point of Zweikofel is quite hard to reach. You have to cross a field of scree, and ascent a fragile gully to reach the plateau of the summit.
It is not so easy to belay, you should be experienced. For rappelling you should use a piece of cord.
The box is situated at the highest point.
