Geocache Description:

The cache is located at a little known access road to the former Mayfield Mall, one of the first indoor malls to be built in the Bay Area. No mind puzzles to solve, but you'll have to figure out how to get the cache.

Mayfield was actually the name of a township in what is now southern part of Palo Alto. A shopping mall was built in the 1960s near the border of Mountain View and Palo Alto, and it adopted the name, Mayfield Mall. Even after the mall closed, County Transit (now VTA) buses used it as a major terminus until the lot became a campus of Hewlett Packard.

The coordinates will take you right near the cache. I have provided a tool to retrieve and place the cache, which is nearby. Detach the container by pushing it up after catching it with the tool. Be sure to return the tool to its original location. Please bring a pen or pencil with you to sign the log sheet.

Parking Note:

There is security patrolling the Hewlett Packard campus/Mayfield Mall parking lot, so you'll need to look for street parking on either Ponce or Briarwood.

To minimize muggles, avoid coming here during commute hours.
