Geocache Description:

“INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST”

The Indiana Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries built by Hoosier Pioneers. In just a year and a half, the quest has grown to over three hundred caches hidden in twenty-seven Indiana counties, and two Ohio counties, and the hiders have grown to seventeen cacher teams, most of which of which are comprised of Dogs and their Humans. Over 975 cacher teams have logged over 11,700 finds. The most ambitious of many cache machines found 102 ISQ caches in a single day (daylight hours only).

INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #447

"A Nutter ISQ"

Welcome to Barnett Cemetery, located in Ervin Township, Howard County, Russiaville, Indiana. Also known as Ervin Township Cemetery, there are burials here dating back to 1841, and as recent as 2005.
Barnett Cemetery has most of its older headstones along 700W, and there is a large, open area on the north end of the cemetery that appears to be available for new burials. Take a few minutes to enjoy the stones as you walk to the back of the cemetery towards the cache.

This is the first time that I remember seeing two wives' information being listed on a single headstone. Emeline died at age 28 in 1855, and Caroline died in 1858 at age 24.

I was intrigued by this stone, which seems to be a memorial stone (cenotaph) rather than a gravestone. "Shirley H. Foy, whose dear body lies in the China Sea. Greater love hath no man than this that he give his life."

FIND LOGS ON THIS CACHE THAT INDICATE NIGHT CACHING WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE!

The cache container is a camo-taped waterproof match container, and it contains only a log. Please replace the cache so that it as at least as well concealed as it was when you found it.
The cache is not located near a grave... If you find a fallen US flag, please stick it back in the ground. As always, please be respectful, and cache in, trash out. Say a prayer for our brave troops, fighting overseas. God Bless America!
