This is one of the Checkpoint Challenge Caches from the 2nd Annual GBES Navigational Geocache Rally
The Checkpoint table was placed directly over the Benchmark so nobody would trip over it in the darkness. Don’t bother trying to log it. The Benchmark is not listed with gc.com.
Last year’s rally came right past this location during the final leg.
There is a cache “Fuzzy Cache” just up the hill from here.
The gray building just below the cache is called “USS Fuzzy Gurr” by the Navy and is used as practice by Navy Seal teams for ingress/egress training.
UFO’s have been reported flying in the area by Navy and contract personnel. You may not see one of them, but you may be lucky enough to see an F/A-18 making a bombing run on the “inert” Bravo-16 Bombing Range in the flats below.
BTW: entry in this area is allowed as long as you do not go beyond any fence lines and onto the bombing range itself.
