This cache takes you to a terrific view of awesome Hellgate Canyon.
We were inspired to place this cache by a neat TB we found whose goal was to visit every possible place on earth named Hell. We knew we had our own little Hell in Oregon!
There are two places to park to access this cache. Right before the Rogue Wild and Scenic River sign, there are small graveled parking areas on both sides of the road. Look for the faint trail down the bank and you're on your way. You can also park just past the Viewpoint 500 Feet sign and walk back a bit and go down the bank. Both put you onto what appears to be an old road.
We found this cache site dazzling the day we placed it. The slope was blanketed with green grass and wildflowers. The views were awesome though we didn't venture too close to the edge!
The cache is placed well back from the edge of the cliffs. If you have dogs or kids, keep an eye on them if you wander around.
There are two other caches nearby that give you different looks into the awesome canyon.
We filled this cache (yep, it's in one of our sauerkraut buckets) to the brim with goodies and a first finder's award. Enjoy! Please be sure to secure the lid on the cache and cover it up!
