National Trails
Day 2004
St. Charles County Parks
and
St. Louis Area Geocachers Assn.
Presents the
2004 Geocaching Fun Fair
Klondike Park - Augusta, MO
June 5th - All Day
Join SLAGA for a fun filled day where we
will introduce Geocaching to the general public through games and activities.
SLAGA has been invited by the St. Charles County Parks Department to participate
in their pre-opening of Klondike Park and the National Trails Day activities.
The American Hiking Society, (www.americanhiking.org)
started National Trails Day 12 years ago and the St. Charles County Parks
Department will continue to support this effort through their engagement of
local clubs and groups.
SLAGA has been chosen to help with a
Children's activity and a Parent / Adult activity. We will setup a few Geocaches
and periodically take people on a treasure hunt. We will have some fun children
activities as well to help promote geocaching as a family fun activity!
We are looking for enthusiastic
individuals who are willing to spend the day educating everyone on Geocaching
and it's health benefit. The American Hiking Society's theme this year is
"Trails and Health . . . A Natural Connection." We would like
to promote that as we include Geocaching along the trails in Klondike park.
If you ever wanted to
get involved with Geocaching or you want to come out and teach it's benefits,
this is the event! We want as many as we can get, both new and experienced, to
come out and help celebrate this wonderful day. Make no excuse! If you want to
get involved with Geocaching, with or without GPS, this is the place!
Parking may be limited
so I would carpool from the commuter lot at Highway 40 and Highway 94. The
commuter lot is located on the South Service road of Highway 40 just east of
Highway 94. Please post a note here in the logs if you want to commute. We will
get more details and specifics soon. We will keep this page updated through
logs.
We certainly hope to
see everyone out there working together to promote Geocaching in St. Charles
County.
