Located along the W&OD Trail in Loudoun County. A popular access point to the W&OD Trail off Route 28. Parking is available nearby but could be limited or non-existant during good weather.
The W&OD Railroad once linked the City of Alexandria, near the Nation's Capital, with several Northern Virginia communities like Vienna, Herndon and Leesburg and terminated in the rural town of Purcellville. in the Virginia Piedmont. The trail contains both urban and rural stretches as it passes through highly developed Fairfax and Eastern Loudoun County then into the country for several miles for a total length of 45 miles. For most of its length it is only 100 feet wide. There are several other caches accessible from the trail so bring your bike if you have one.
The cache is located near a busy access point where you can PARK (your car)& RIDE (your bike, hike with a friend or work on you fitness as you run or jog along the trail). The trail also offers great opportunities for the Naturalist.
At times, parking may be limited or non-existant due to heavy use of the trail. Stealth may be necessary due to the many moving muggles nearby. Look out for runners and cyclists when approaching or walking the trail.
Please respect and obey all Northern Virginia Park Authority rules concerning use and access. Night hunting is not recommended and may violate park rules.
A small pencil and log are in the cache but bring your own just in case.
