This cache was originally placed by Henry County Heritage Trust, a group that has dedicated itself to the preservation of history in Henry County. This is one of the many cache sites they have placed to educate the general public on the little known details of the history surrounding the area.
Presley Saunders was the first to build a home here in 1834 - before Iowa became a state - in what is now Saunders Park. The James Harlan Chapter DAR marked the site in 1927. The original cache was located underneath the bridge in a peanut butter jar.
The new cache is located west of this historic landmark. It contains the logbook.
