May 18, 1927 was a terrible day for Bath, and the country as a
whole. Bath was the unfortunate site of the largest act of domestic
terrorism up until the Oklahoma City Bombing. Andrew Kehoe, a
school board member, was responsible for the deaths of 45 people
and injuries to another 58 through three separate detonations. One
at his farm, the school, and the last from his shrapnel filled car
as rescuers began to gather at the school.
Kehoe was upset by a property tax, claiming that it was
responsible for his financial hardships and resulting in
foreclosure proceedings against his farm, he hid explosives within
the school over the course of several months.
Thankfully for the town not all of the explosives hidden
detonated in the school. Rescuers found an additional five hundred
pounds of unexploded dynamite and pyrotol underneath the south wing
of the school.
The coordinates given for this cache will bring you to the
Pleasant View Cemetery where the graves of seventeen of the victims
rest. They will center on the grave of LeVere R. Harte, aged 9. If
you will look next to his grave site you will find his parents,
LeVere C. and Florence L. Harte.
To find the coordinates for the final you will need to project
ABC ft at XYZ degrees from the listed cache coordinates where:
KLMN = the year that LeVere's mom died.
A = L - N
B = M
C = M - N
and
X = K + K
Y = L - M - K
Z = L
Another cache devoted to remembering these kids can be found a
short drive to the north at
