The reference position will take you to the entrance of the outdoor museum Fort Nieuw Amsterdam. If you are by car you have ample space to park.  At the starting point there is a small warung (indonesian restaurant) where you can have a nice bite and a cold drink (except on saturdays).

This multi-cache requires you to work with the panning- and some other features of your GPS equipment.  First you will have to find all image reference points by following a given bearing with distance from your starting point, the blue board in the left image with text "Openluchtmuseum / Outdoor Museum".  Having arrived at those points you have to answer a question.  In principle the routing between the different image reference points is free but it is advised to follow the images/questions from top to bottom.  The first question will initially keep you outside of the museum.  The remainder of the questions will take you inside of the Outdoor Museum where the cache has been placed.  An small entrance fee and opening times are applicable.  For more information about this very interesting place please refer to www.fortnieuwamsterdam.com

All bearings are referenced to True North.

Have a nice stroll around the place and enjoy part of Suriname's history!

Statue
Bearing 342° - 358m to image reference point.
A = the number of bolts with which the statue is being kept in place.

Information
Bearing 014° - 133m to image reference point (information plaque)
Although not part of the solution, this place is worth a visit.

KanonnenCannons
Bearing 035° - 356m to image reference point.
B = the number of canons with text within a circle of 20m.
C = the sum of the four numbers on top of the longest cannon

Powderhouse
Bearing 083° - 231m to image reference point (information board)
D = the sum of all numbers of the year on the facing wall.

Stone
Bearing 127° - 104m to image reference point (stone)
E = the sum of all numbers of the year in the last line.

Now, adding the results of all answers will give you S (consolidated number = 8).  This sum is used in the bearing / distance calculations below.  If the answer leaves     only 2 numbers then you have to put a '0' in front.  Use your GPS to the utmost, finding the exact spot will be a challange.

You now have the choice of 7 bearing/distance calculations taking you close to the spot of the cache.
From the start                   (S-1)°     for     (S+188)m
From the statue                 (S+55)°   for     (S+363)m
From the cannons               (S+98)°    for     (S+136)m
From the powderhouse       (S-57)°    for     (S-11)m
From the plaque                (S-24)     for     (S+148)m

Remark 1: For finding the cache it might come in handy to determine the coordinates of all image reference points.

Remark 2: To determine a consolidated number keep adding all numbers, also of an answer, untill you are left with only one number (e.g. 194 consolidated = 5: 1 + 9 + 4 = 14 >>> 1 + 4 = 5).

Remark 3: I visit Suriname very regularly, almost once every three months for a week or two. Local arrangements have been made in case maintenance of the cache is needed on short notice.

Apparently the cache went missing so it has been temporarely disabled. Replacement is scheduled for november. Sorry to disappoint you, but Fort Nieuw Amsterdam is still worth a visit!

Yesterday, we attempted to find the cache. We noted that not all pictures are accurate: some situations have changed. We had to guess some answers, however without a satisfying result. Since we had to go back to Paramaribo, we decided to have another try today, however not without first checking with the museum's management by phone, since the cache was also mentioned on their web site. Unfortunately, they informed us that the cache is gone... It saved us another trip to the Fort. We do however recommend a visit anyway: it's a nice, well kept place.
