Geocache Description:

Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting, but rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived.
General George S. Patton

One of the lesser known military monuments in the state of California, but just as important as all the others. The cache is about 10 minutes off of I-5. Pass Pea Soup Andersens, the Love's Travel Center, and shortly after that, you'll turn left and double back over the freeway.

Love your country and live with pride,
And don't forget those who died.
America, can't you see.....

All gave some,
and some gave all.
And some stood through for the red, white and blue,
And some had to fall.....

And if you ever think of me,
Think of all your liberties
and recall.....
Some gave all

(Some Gave All, by Billy Ray Cyrus).

This is a memorial to Californians who fought and died in a war far away. The fight in which they died was not as well known as WWII or Desert Storm, and not as controversial as Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan, but they all died fighting for freedom.

The site on which the memorial sits is still being developed, but is hallowed ground, just the same. If you are there on the hour, you will hear the chimes up on the hill play songs such as "God Bless America", "America the Beautiful", and other patriotic songs. If you stay on the road you came in on, the road doubles back behind the hill and takes you up to the flagpole where you get a nice view of the whole grounds.

The grounds are open 7 days a week, from 8 AM to 5 PM.

To "find" this cache, please email me with answers to the following questions. Please do not post your answers here, even if encrypted:

What war does this marker memorialize?

How many Californians died, or became missing in action in this war?

(Coordinates N 37.06.901, W 121.04.726), who does this statue memorialize?

Thanks for visiting. I hope you find this to be an interesting spot.
