Geocache Description:

This is the longest Longbarrow in England and Wales and a really beautiful location. You can walk right inside the barrow which because of its length is a really atmospheric experience. It is a short walk from a layby on the A4 and is suitable for all ages of children.

The Longbarrow has a wonderful position on a hill overlooking Silbury Hill (the largest manmade hill in Europe). It is an anicient burial chamber dating from about 3500bc (which is open so that you can see inside), with places to picnic on the outside.

Please respect the history of this location when you visit and follow this code of practice. This location is NT property, open all hours.

Visit during the week for a quiet, almost spiritual experience. Visit at night if you have nerves of steel.

In order to claim this cache, go into the Barrow. Walk to the end and look at the roof to answer this question: what is not original (and unexpected) about the roof. Please send your answer through the message centre. A photo of you at the Long Barrow attached to your log is also appreciated

Under no circumstances should you post the answers in your log or post photographs of the answer. You must physically visit this cache in order to log it, please do not abuse this requirement (I regret that I will have to delete logs that do not meet these requirements).

We hope you enjoy your visit.
