Geocache Description:

Cache is located near a lighthouse at the mouth of Guysborough Harbour. Driftwood and other debris accumulate in the area making the terrain along the beach more difficult. The described route is over crown land that was originally the Scranton homestead and was apparently willed to the crown several years ago.

After passing through the village of Guysborough on Route 16, if heading towards Canso, turn left onto Parker Rd. Park on the shoulder of the road near the trailhead at N45 22.453 W61 29.983. Take overgrown trail along old fence line and as the trail disappears, aim for N45 22.511 W61 29.692, where you will enter open fields. Follow deer trails to the east along the edge of the woods, past an old foundation, to a lookoff over the bay near crown land marker (N45 22.478 W61 29.393). From there go directly to the cache down the gentle slope through some overgrown alders. If you approach more directly from the fields and bushwhack through the woods you will encounter a tidal pond that you will have to walk around. Alternate routes to the cache are along the shoreline from various points of entry, however the distance will be longer. The GPS accuracy is very good here so trust yours to find the well-camouflaged container.
