Polliwog Pond is a beautiful pond with a small number of
campsites along the shore and a boat launch that can take you into
the remote and spectacular wilderness of the St. Regis Canoe
Area.
The bulk of the CITO efforts will be targeted at cleaning up
garbage in and around the campsites, with some additional time and
energy being devoted to clearing and hauling away of storm/winter
damage. Last year at Hoel Pond, we gathered and hauled away about
500 pounds of garbage, as well as clearing significant amounts of
storm/winter damage.
The clean-up will start at/around noon, and while you are
expected to take care of your own lunch, I will be bringing some
snacks and drinks (any help in this area would be appreciated and
can be noted in your "Will Attend" note).
I'll have some work-gloves and various containers for trash
available, but people should plan on wearing clothes that can get
dirty (and bring your own work-gloves if you have them).
I'll be setting out a cache with a log at the given coordinates
so we know who came.
Non-geocachers are encouraged to attend and participate in the
clean-up...there will be some experienced geocachers on hand to
answer questions, and take you out on a hunt if you wish. Please
log a "Will Attend" on this page ASAP, so that I have a better idea
of how much stuff to bring...thanks!!!
