Cannon Hill Common is located between the town centres Raynes Parkand Morden in the ward of Cannon Hill in the south western corner of Merton.
The Common is accessible from Parkway, Heath Drive and Cannon Hill Lane. The Common can be accessed on foot from Whatley Avenue, Cannon Hill Lane, Southway, Parkway and Heath Drive.
Walkers can also get onto the Common via walkways from King George's Playing Fields, Joseph Hood Recreation Ground,across the meadow from Parkway and along the grassed area adjacent to the roads.
Cannon Hill Common covers 21 hectares of open space.It boasts mature woodland, which is over 140 years old and is hometo a variety of plants and animals. Cannon Hill Common is a greatplace for walking, recreational fishing and angling, dog walking,bird watching and simply getting away from urban life and enjoyinga small piece of countryside in the city.
Cache is located just off a public footpath that runs around the common. You are looking for a tube just slightly bigger than a 35mm film canister.
The footpath is accessible for both wheelchairs andpushchairs but could prove to be bumpy in places and may be muddy in wet weather. Wheelchair cachers will need assistance to retrieve the cache.
The path can get surprisingly busy so stealth is required!
