Feel the Burn Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

NCreviewer: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,

Thanks,
Your friendly neighbood reviewer

Geocache Description:

Feel the Burn is located approx. halfway along the Gastonia Greenway. Best access is from Lineberger Park on Garrison Blvd. near Union Rd. (N 35 15.225 W 081 10.260). Additional parking is available across Garrison from the park (recommended for those on in-line skates).

The Gastonia Greenway offers a 2.7 mile long asphalt paved trail well suited for biking, in-line skating, jogging, pushing a stroller, scooters, or just enjoying a brisk walk. The cache is located in the woods across the path from the first picnic table you encounter (N 35 14.413 W 081 10.010).

The cache can be found gently cradled in the "Tree of Many Trunks" nestled beneath a blanket of leaves. Look around and you will know it when you see it.

The contents of the clear, 2 qt. Rubbermaid container with a blue lid have been updated on the last day of 2003 to include:

Micro Mag flashlight
(2) Snap links
Indiana Jones directional compass
Nifty geometric compass
Small notebook
GPS Juice (4 AA Batteries)
Girlie pocket knife
Three sided Hi-liter
Bouncy Ball
Tire Gage
Other sundry items left by previous cachers

Please don't leave bubbles or items with a fragrance (the local critters chew up the container).

Take a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated and don't be afraid to break a sweat. It's good for ya'.

Oh yeah BTW, the mosquitos get a little thick during the summer months.
