Geocache Description:

This is a magnetic nano cache placed near to Edwardstone church, dedicated to St.Mary-the-Virgin. The cache is not in the grounds of the church, there is a clue to its location in the title.
The church is 500 years old, although county records list vicars back as far as 1305.
Pay a visit to the church if you can.

This is part of a series of 9 caches placed around the village of Edwardstone, to visit all the caches is a walk of about 6km.

If you feel the urge to flatten several acres of vegetation; RESIST. This cache is located in/on/under something, and your visit should leave little trace on the surroundings.

As you walk along an avenue of lime trees, these replace elms destroyed by disease in 1976, you approach and pass through a brick archway, Temple Bar built about 1840. This used to be the gatehouse to Edwardstone Hall which stood behind the church until it was pulled down in 1952. The loss to the village has been repaired as we now have 2 Edwardstone Halls, one opposite the arch and one through it!

If anyone would like to expand this Church Micro numbered series please do. Please contact sadexploration via this website, so that he can keep track of the church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
