Located off a trail in the Purisima Creek Open Preserve, offering beautiful forest and ocean views.
Welcome to the Hot-Wheels geocache! The theme for this cache is toy cars. We have placed in the cache a nice set of still packaged Hot Wheels vehicles, a camera, and log book and pens, in a blue lidded tupperware box. We ask that you swap out, if you can, your favorite car of choice with another, or some other small toy instead. Please take a picture of yourselves and log the website with how many are left. When the camera roll has been completely used we will develop the camera and digitize and post the pictures.
Located off a trail in the Purisima Creek Open Space Preserve, it offers a pretty spirited hike and awesome views. We took 4 hours to complete the hike at a calm pace, and that included a lunch break at the site of the geocache.
The trail involves a few steep rocky climbs and drops. Please be careful with the loose gravel on the steeper inclines, and this is why we're rating it a 2 on terrain.
Things to enjoy: Many types of butterflies, Quail, and of course the forest vegetation itself. Excellent sweeping views of the slopes, valleys and trails. Great place for mountain biking, albeit a bit steep at the start.
As usual, beware the usual things in bay area hikes: poison oak (seen it), possible rattle snakes (no encounters in two trips) and ticks (neither).
