The above coordinates are for parking. Please read the cache
information carefully for directions and enjoy "el cementerio".
Recently, while vacationing in Vermont, I did two different
cemetery multi-caches. They were lots of fun, so I decided to do my
own geocache in a cemetery.
I headed out to the Hispanic cemetery in Tubac. I must say I was
very surprised by how their culture differs from my own in regards
to what one does or does not do to the grave site of a loved one.
I'll leave it to your visit, for you to see what I am talking
about. This cache is located in a cemetery and it's meant to be
both fun and a time to share in the culture of others.
Here are a couple of guidelines to remember while searching for
the needed information. First, this is a cemetery so be respectful.
Next all the information that you need to gather is located on
stones. Remember there may be visitors to the cemetery, so please
be respectful of their privacy. All of the names and dates you will
need to locate are on stones that are easy to read. You do not move
anything. Your eyes are all you need.
The cache details. This is a nine-part multi. Your mission is to
use the provided coordinates to find the appropriate stone and
gather the information you need to find the final coordinates. The
final coordinates are as follows: N31 3B.CDE W 111 0F.GHJ. You must
find the information by answering the following questions which
each have the coordinates of a particular stone. Then substitute
the appropriate letter with the number. This really is fun,so here
are the questions!
B. At N 31 36.991 W 111 02.899 the mortal remains of Andrew
Quintero are forever interred. Use the fourth digit of the year of
his passing.
C. At N 31 36.936 W 111 02.915 lay Henry J. Kane. Add 4 to the
single digit that appears in both his year of birth and year of
passing.
D. At N 31 36.979 W 111 02.894 is buried F.B. Megariz. To the
solution you just solved in C add the number of the war that he
served in.
E. At N 31 36.964 W 111 02.922 there will be the final resting
place of M. C. SANTAMARIA, born in 1924. Subtract 3 from the number
of letters in his first name.
F. At N 31.36.943 W 111 02.927 you will find the final resting
place of Harvey Walter Archer. Take his age at death and subtract
58 from it.
G. At n 31 36.968 W 111 02.910 the mortal remains of Querida
Madre Nieves. Subtract 2 from the last digit of the year she was
born.
H. At N 31 36.990 W 111 02.945 there will be the final resting
place of E. C. Gomez, Pvt US army. In which war did he serve?
J. At N 31 36.997 W 111 02.916 there will be the eternal home of
Ms. H. Rodriguez, born in 1912. How many letters are in her first
name?
There is plenty of parking on the street. Finally I don't think
the police would appreciate people wandering around in the cemetery
at night with lights so I would say night caching is forbidden. The
final cache is a small container holding a log and a pen.
Now that you have the final coordinates, either walk or get in
your car, and head for the area of the Tubac shops, where you will
find the final cache. The final is not amongst the cow patties or
on the other side of the interstate.
I hope you have enjoyed this cache as well as the fine shops and
restaurants in Tubac.
Congratulations to Silny Jako Bek for FTF!
