A journey past the "Welcome to Jurassic Park" cache into Kauai's beautiful interior, Mt. Waialeale--the wettest spot on Earth. (pronounced 'why all-ay all-ay')
***This cache will likely always be wet due to its location. Please close lid tightly!***
If you ever wanted to see the area known as "The Blue Hole" this is the way. Bring mosquito repellant, water proof/resistant items to trade as this area is the wettest spot on Earth, tabis (water shoes with a gripping foam on the bottom to nagivate mossy rocks--Kmart/Wal-Mart should have them) or reef walkers for the walk up the stream. Hiking boots if you prefer to take the trail to the right of the stream through the forest. This trail is usually wet and muddy and thick with gnats who want the rotted fruit on the trail, so take which route you can better navigate. We've shown you the way to Mt. Waialeale, now it's up to you how to explore it. Have fun!
Take Kuamo'o Road (580) in Wailua toward the interior. After about 7 miles, the paved road will turn to dirt. A 4x4 is necessary if it has been raining heavily but a regular rental will get you back here. (We saw Civic's and Mustang's by the JP Gate cache)
The Jurassic Park gate was open at the time we planted this cache. If it is closed, then park there and hike back on the well worn dirt road.
