Planetfall - The Lost Adventure Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

9Key: Stopped by and couldn't find the Wallet after looking for quite a while. The final is most liekly missing too. Since the game needs to be updated with fresh, active geocachers I'm going to archive this location and redo the cache game and containers elsewhere.

Thanks for everyone who hunted for this cache and left kind words. I really appreciate it!

Scrudder - go ahead and log a find. You beat the game which was the gist of the cache anyway.

Geocache Description:

This cache combines both virtual and physical caches types by starting you in the virtual world of a computer game and ending with a real cache in the physical world. The coords are bogus as you'll hunt for the real ones in the game!

Planetfall, in its original form, was the product of the bent but brilliant minds of Infocom. One of the early "Interactive Fiction" games, it debuted in 1983. Similar games of the era include the Zork series, Leisure Suit Larry, Hunt the Wumpus (an early Wang VS game), etc.

Interactive Fiction, also known as IF, are like stories where you control the main character. You are put in a situation, and you have to solve a number of tasks and puzzles before completing the game. Unlike many modern games, a lot of thought and imagination is required.

Today the IF games live on with emulators for almost every computer operating system - probably even yours!
In addition, you can create your very own IF games using the Adrift Generator.

Ok, let's get on to the cache!
You are an Ensign 7th Class in the Stellar Patrol and you've got a big problem. You've lost your wallet!
'No biggie', you say? Well in your wallet was your Stellar Patrol ID card. Without your ID you can't get paid!
Your objective: find the coordinates to the planet where you left your wallet. Take your ID card to the Payroll Dept. and GET PAID.

  1. Download the game (1.07 MB), and the software (called Adrift) (2.39 MB).
  2. Unzip and install Adrift.
  3. Open the game in Adrift.
  4. Play the game and find the coordinates to your wallet!
Once you have found your wallet use the following formula to find the Payroll Dept.
Your ID card's Date of Issuance: BH-ZM.X.MJK

The Payroll Dept.'s office is located here:
33°B3.M(Z divided by 2)(K divided by 2)
96°XB.XMZ

Update! As of 10/14/04 The Stellar Patrol has electronically refilled and replenished your wallet!
